While I will admittedly say that I am not a fan of Motionless in White, it still never stops me from enjoying something different that, you never know, may surprise me!
This latest MIW tour was in outdoor amphitheaters for the majority of it from what I understand, and while I think that’s a great sentiment from the booking team, I’m not sure they are quite there yet from a headlining 15,000 seat capacity venues yet, as the majority of the Toyota Amphitheater in Wheatland, CA was unfortunately empty past the pit area and first sections of seats.
That said, it’s important to note that Lorna Shore was an absolute powerhouse monster on stage, as per usual. The presence that Will Ramos has on stage is stunning. He commands the crowd better than I’ve seen from a lot of “younger” bands. Deathcore is one of those things that you’ve either got it, or you don’t, and they certainly do.
Their set, that was definitely too short could have been given another 20min. And would have really benefited from it, as they truly impress every time.
Once MIW came on stage, it was a much different feel, one that was much more “show-ey” and theatrical, which at times, for me, can be a lot of fun. And for MIW singer Chris Cerulli, you can tell he truly loves what he does. He belted out song after song and played to the audience and to the photographers in the photo pit. A well oiled machine.
I for one, think that had they played the Hard Rock Live in Wheatland, where it also wasn’t 106 degrees outside, would have equally benefited from an indoor setting. However, the way they powered through their set, theatrics and all quite quickly, was fantastic and well worth the time!
