CURRENTS have quickly risen the ranks in the metal core world, and are now a pretty large sized venue headliner. The funny thing to me is that they are one of those bands that comes along every decade or so that has a unique and genuine sound that completely blows me away. They’ve not only done this live for me, but album after album they’ve impressed; between composition and lyrics, Currents are not just another heavy metalcore band that splits between clean singing and screaming and a breakdown here and there, but a band that structures the music in such a way that evokes raw emotion and feels more similar to traditional metal such as Trivium and In Flames than it does metalcore.
ERRA have been building and building for years now, being road warriors and always hopping on some great lineups that really help showcase what it is they do. And what it is they do to me is a heartfelt heavy show that has just about everything from heavy metal-core riffs down to hard rock melodies.
This tour truly showcases up and coming bands in the metal scene and showed the kind of pull that these younger bands are beginning to get by packing out much larger venues than they had even just a couple of years ago. I for one am excited to see where these go.
